the Chante's

Dayton?, 1965

There is little info available on the Chante's or Chantes), a girl group who recorded one 45 on Prism. The songwriter is Patsy Thaxton. There was a Patsy Thaxton living in Dayton who sang in some groups, she graduated Roosevelt HS in 1955 and was listed as singing in a University of Dayton group, the Blues Trio, in 1959. It's possible by 1965 she was writing/mentoring a younger group of singers. 

There was another Patsy Thaxton in Troy who would have ben about 13-14 at the time. A brief mention of her high school activities has no reference to music or singing so she is likely not the one.

The B-side "I've Got A New Love" is a pretty good song, stylisticly between NYC girl group and soul.
