Jimmy Gray
Ostrander, 1959-1961
April 13, 1960 story
Jimmy Gray recorded the best 45, rock-n-roll wise, for R.D. Globe.
Jimmy was a senior at Scioto High School and lived in Ostrander, a few miles west of Marysville.
He recorded the 45 at R.D. Globe with the Missels providing a stroing backing. The two sides were written by Jimmy and Don Parrott, another Ostrander resident who was attending music school in Chicago. "Two-Timer" is a great rock-n-roll record, straight rock with no billy.
The record got some local sales. There were no listings for Jimmy performing other than the "record release party" minstrel show mentioned.
Jimmy didn't make any other recordings, as is often erroneously cited. The JImmy Gray who recorded country 45s and toured with Waylon Jennings is a different person. By 1961 Jimmy was attending college at Bowling Green.
in the early 2010s, Jimmy and/or his family was selling new old stock copies of the 45 on ebay. He was living out of state but returned home for a show in 2014.
