Johnny Conville
Lancaster, 1960
Johnny Conville (or John Conville) was more familiar with theatre than rock-n-roll, but he cut a good rock 45 for R.D. Globe, at the age of 24.
John's name was listed in the papers as a TV performer, promoter, and set builder. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1955.
He recorded his 45 with a rock-n-roll arragement of "Bye Bye Blackbird", with a lot of help from the Missels. The A side of the record was a pop song "In Love In Vain" written by Jerome Kern but incorrectly attributed to those other musical composers Rogers and Hammerstein. This was one of the poorer sellers on R.D. Globe.
The story mentions Confur talent agency, formed by Conville and Jack Furniss. The agency was short lived, filing for legal dissillusion in October 1962.
There is little else we could find on Johnny, he likely moved out of the area.
