April 1969 ad, ready to sock it to you!

Lynn Minor played organ and led a club band for at least a decade.

The band, listed as Lynn Minor and His Band, played clubs in the Youngstown area. A short list of places included the Eagles Nite Club, Belmont Bar, Silver Star, Army&Navy, and a couple New Years Eve  parties for the Youngstown Northside Old-Timers. He was also called Little Lynn Minor in early (1963-ish) ads.

The band recorded two 45s. The first one included Lynn's organ led instrumental "Fat Back" and a cover of the Stevie Wonder mega hit "For Once In My Life". The record was issued on United Audio first and is pretty rare on that label. It was re-released on Tammy. The United Audio version was probably pulled from the market.

A year or so later in 1970 they released a second 45. The A side is a vocal ballad, and the B side is a raw James Brown style mostly instrumental hard funk. Both records have a full band sound with guitar and horns.

There a few more mentions of Lynn playing clubs until about 1972. There is no other mention we could find about the band anywhere. Perhaps a Youngstown memories social media site could bring up some details.
