Soul Motion

Cleveland, 1968-70

pic

The Soul Motion were from Cleveland's east side greaser/soul scene. The band featured a female singer, but we don't know much else.

The band was promoted by WXEN DJs especially Don Allen, who made several appearences with the band during early 1969 at the Tramend Club. A couple months later the band and the WXEN jocks were at 1776, a few blocks away on Broadway, both in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood. The band was still playing into 1970.

The band recorded a 45 with two Motown hit covers. The record must have been cut at Cleveland Recording because it has a CRC master number. It was pressed at Pama, with a vanity label name. The producer is Bob Letson, but so far we can't find anyone with that name who lived in Cleveland. Maybe a pseudonym for someone at WXEN?
